Between 2021 and 2024, I ran the Fresh Food Weekly food security program. This program delivered half-a-million dollars-worth of fresh food to +8,000 low-income residents throughout the City of Barrie and the Township of Innisfil. Since I couldn't afford a lawyer, I wrote my own governing documents and received charitable status in July 2022. Between July 2022 and March 2024, I personally raised +$195K in monetary donations. This works out to a little more than $10K raised each month for 19 consecutive months.
Past Delivery Days
Since Fresh Food Weekly had been doing weekly deliveries of produce and bread items during the summer of 2021, Lisa Peterson of Stone Horse Farm and Manager of the Thornton Farmers' Market, reached out and said she was doing a Christmas fundraiser to raise money for 50 Christmas meal boxes and asked if Fresh Food Weekly would be able to deliver them to low-income families in Barrie.
This is how the meal box program was birthed.

Fresh Food Weekly did a fundraiser with RONA in September and used the $3,000 raised to do 17 meal boxes for women who'd been in the Women & Children's Shelter of Barrie at some point in time

When Easter approached, Fresh Food Weekly reached out to Lisa and asked if she wanted to do another meal box fundraiser, but this time for Easter. Fresh Food Weekly also fundraised for 62 kid's Easter baskets too!

After the two successful runs with the Christmas and Easter meal box deliveries, Fresh Food Weekly decided to start raising money every month beginning in June 2022. The following month, we were granted charitable status.
